Price is the major factor, It does not limit to the price of the bird. An appropriate cage, with proper perches and toys is a must. Proper food is very important for the well being of the PET. Cockatoos are the needy, "Velcro birds". They are like owning a two year old for life, they never grow up! Amazons will amuse themselves quite happily, as long as you provide a good size cage, and lots of new and interesting toys to interchange frequently. African Greys don't usually care too much about the "out of cage time". They will happily and contentedly just be near you and not necessarily "on you". Do not buy a Cockatoo if you can not give time for him. As the bird would go into trauma if it finds neglected.

Last but not the least; think twice before you buy a PET, Decide which one would be the right choice.
