Young at Art

Gallery Gitanjali is delighted to present " Young @ Art " , an Art Club for Children , designed to inculcate the skills of Visual Thinking ,through Art Appreciation . The club will have a series 12 sessions, engaging and exposing them to the world of Art History and Art Appreciation. The First session will be an Open Session, commencing at 10:30 am to 1:00 pm on 9th July 2016.

Young@Art aims to develop the skills of viewing and discussing art over the span of 12 sessions of 2 hours each, starting from 9th July 2016 to 24th September 2016, every Saturday at Gallery Gitanjali. The club seeks to engage them in the world of ART outside a formal classroom setting.

The discussions will be easy going , thought provoking and challenging. Each session will have a series of specially designed unique activities to stimulate their creative instincts by exposing them to a variety of medium and ways of expressing themselves. At the conclusion of the sessions, they will be able to speak confidently about their thoughts on art, and think creatively by exercising their artistic imagination.

The children will first be primed with the fundamental modules on What is Art? , The Elements of Art and Principles of Design.
After grasping these concepts, they will be exposed to the prominent themes in art including – Religion and Mythology, Tribal Art, Emotions in Art, Graphic Art, Portraiture, and Modern and Conceptual Art.

Through the course of these 12 sessions, the children will be exposed to various artistic genres and mediums from the archaic to the modern and the contemporary , both in India and globally .

At the same time through the means of the hands on activities customized for each session, they will be able to unearth more about their own culture through the medium of Visual Arts. The program aims at developing a creative outlook in young children where they learn to observe and describe, analyze and interpret visual works of art. The club wants to make the child independent of any restraints when it comes to individual expression, hence enabling them to express themselves with or without words. Through the activities that we have handpicked for every session, the child practices problem-solving skills, critical-thinking skills, art-making skills, language and vocabulary of the arts. Arts build confidence. Because there is not just one right way to make art, every child can feel pride in his or her original artistic creations and understandings.


The program comprises of 12 sessions which are scheduled for every Saturday from 9th July 2016 to 24th September 2016. The timings for Age Groups 6-10 years are 10: 30 am to 1:00 pm and for Age Groups 10- 15 years are 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Limited seats are available.
