Vikramshila Museum

The Vikramshila museum established in 2004 display some selected antiquities unearhed in excavations conducted by Archaeological Survey of India (1972-82) at the Near by site indentifird to thw Rwmains of vikramshila Mahavihar the celebrated anicent University founded by pala king Dharmpala in 8th or early 9th Century A.D. which prospered for about four centuries.

The excavation has revealed a large Buddhist monastery with in imposing stupa in its centre and Vative stupasd in addition to so small sterines of letter perid inculding a Tibetab and hindu temple The general plan of the monastery greatly resembles the contemporay sompura Mahavihar Paharpur(Bangladesh).
