Valley of Flowers

The Valley of Flowers is one of the most beautiful place in Indian Himalayas, situated near Badrinath in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand state. Highly favored destination in western Himalayas by domestic and International tourists every year during the month of June to September.

The Valley is famous for its floral beauty and picturesque landscapes. The endemic species of flowers and plants are the attraction of thousands of tourists, nature lovers, naturalists and scientists. This is also the home of endangered wild animals like Snow leopard, Himalayan black bear, musk deer, Himalayan Red Fox and blue sheep (bharal).

This Himalayan treasure found by British Mountaineers Frank S Smythe, Eric Shipton and R L Holdsworth on 9th July 1931, when they were returning from successful expedition of Mt. Kamet. Frank Smythe revisited the valley in 1937 to study the Flora and to give it popularity, he published a book "The Valley of Flowers" in 1938.
