The Kurukshetra University was established in 1956 as a unitary residential University and its foundation stone was laid by late Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. Located in the holy city of Kurukshetra, land of the historical battle of 'Mahabharata' and the great message of Bhagwad Gita, its campus is situated on the western bank of Brahm Sarover (the holy tank) and extends over an area of over 400 acres. Starting with only the Department of Sanskrit, it has grown into a multi-faculty University as one of the premier centres for advanced study and research in the region.

UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT
The University School of Management is the oldest Management School in Haryana imparting business education and research. Starting as a part of the Department of Commerce way back in July 1973, it branched out to form a full fledged University Teaching Department in way back April, 1976. The University School of Management (USM) has since come a long way. Today, it is one among the premier management institutions in country.

Over the last 42 years the University School of Management has scaled enviable heights. It has produced management graduates who are holding positions of responsibility in industry, business and Government organizations. Its alumni are working with the multinational firms also. They have done their alma mater proud by earning name and fame while working for the transnational giants. Apart from the MBA programme, it provides facilities for Doctoral Research in all major business and industry domain.

The University School of Management has taken initiative to impart quality education to cater the 21st century’s industrial needs by introducing MBA programme under Self Financing Scheme also from the academic Session 2004-05. The students are groomed during two year course duration in the department in various thrust areas of teaching and research as Finance, Marketing, HRM and Retailing & Logistics. Case-Discussion, Management Games, Role-playing exercises, organization development interventions are the regular inputs given to the students along with theoretical aspects to shape them into better managers of tomorrow. The School has its separate in-house library comprising of 8500 books and three well-maintained computer labs with wi-fi facility and research databases. The School has a highly qualified and well-experienced faculty in the major functional areas of management.
