Lalpania a small town , about 16 kilometer far from Gomia Bloc ,but having beautiful picturesque place in the lap of famous Lugu hill series (The second highest hill series of jharkhand) and surrounded with Jharkhand’s famous river&Damodar and small hilly rivers Katail and Sadabahar , situated in the north side of Tenughat Dam.Though before construction of Tenughat Thermal Power Station it was an unknown village but now it is cause of lighting half of Jharkhand with its manufactured electricity and obviously it has now converted in a beautiful Township. Now Lapania possesses Jharkhand’s pride 2x210 MW Tenughat Thermal Power Station in her lap. People of all over Bihar / Jharkhand has arrived here for doing business .On Kartic Purnima a famous Mela of santhalies is organized here & santhal tribal of all over India use to come here to offer prayer to their lord LUGU BABA. “Pahan” use to perform the puja.
Shyamali a guest house of T.T.P.S is a beautiful building, constructed on road side hi ll top. A typical scene of Tenughat water reservoir, Luguburu hills , snake like roads can be observed from its rooftop. At the bottom of Shyamali and besides the Lalpania Gomia road a very attractive statue of “Birsa Bhagwan’ is made.
A small but very pleasant water fall is adding in the beauty of Lalpania, here water is falling from a height of approx 15meters and at the bottom of the fall a big cantilever stone creating cave like scene , a shiva linga has been placed in side there by famous local holyman Shri Ram Sharan Giri adding spiritual atmosphere .
Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Ltd operates 2x210 mw power units. The company is in the process of implementing stage-II expansion plan at a cost of about Rs 2,047 crore. After completion of stage-II, TVNL will have 5x210 MW generation capacity. The Tenughat Thermal Power Station is situated near Tenughat Dam in the district of Bokaro. The nearest railway station is Gomia, which is about 22 km from the site. The project is also connected by road from Ramgarh and Gomia. The project was sanctioned for 3 stages, as stage-I of 2x210 MW and stage –III of 1x500 MW Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Limited was created as a separate company (Company’s Act 1956) in 1987. This unit is under commercial operation since September 1997. The firs unit has been running satisfactorily and operating at 40% PLF and oil consumption has been reduced to lower than the all India average of 1.9 ml/KW.1877 acres of land was acquired for stage I on which stands the main powerhouse, ash disposal area, colonies and railway sidings. This land is insufficient for the expansion project under stage II expect for the ash disposal area for which additional land the tune of 250 acres is being acquired.
Techno-economic clearance from Central Electricity Authority has already been taken for commission of stage II of Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Limited. It consists of 3x210 MW units of coal fired Thermal Power Plant Subsequent environmental clearance for this project has already been taken from the Ministry of Environment and Forests,.
This power station is already connected to the grids at Bihar Shariff and Patratu through a 400 KV Transmission line. Presently there is a provision to evacuate power from TTPS by the following 200 KV/400 KV line to Chandil at Garhwa. Power generated by TTPS will first meet the requirement of the State of Jharkhand and the surplus will be sold to the neighboring State of Bihar. If so required, power will be sold to the other States through power trading corporation, New Delhi. The Hon’ble Chief Minster of Jharkhand under the leadership of Energy Minister inaugurated the Stage-II project of Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Limited on 22.10.2001. The first unit of extension stage-II is expected to be commissioned in 36 to 40 month’s time.
