The Scenic Karbi Anglong

Karbi Anglong is the largest amongst 28 administrative districts of Assam. Diphu is the district head-quarter of Karbi Anglong district. It is hilly where enchanting natural green forests and picturesque hills attract tourist throughout the year. The colorful local tribes with rich varied culture also is an attraction. There are several adventure tourism options in the area.

The nearest airport is Dimapur in Nagaland 54 km away from Diphu. Diphu has a railway station. Also the National Highway 37 and 39 passes through the Karbi Anglong district connecting it to the rest of North East.

Here are some of the places where you can visit, although lot more places are there:

Trekking to Singhason: Singhason is the highest peak of the district with altitude of about 1600 mtrs. While trekking one can watch the innumerable variety of birds and animals including the barking deer, pygmy hog, spotted deer, monkeys, langoors etc. Great views of the Brahmaputra Valley can be seen from the hill top.

Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary: Covering an area of 96 sq km, Karbi Anglong Wildlife Sanctuary is the home for a number of animals and birds such as the elephant, leopard, water buffalo, deer, monitor lizard, pythons, great Himalayan hornbill, imperial pigeon, green pigeon, emerald dove, hill partridges, jungle fowl, pheasant, hoopoe, koel, kingfisher, storks, herons, pelicans, wood pecker, mynas, yellow bittern, egrets etc.

Marat Longri Wildlife Sanctuary: Covering an area over 451 sq km. The sanctuary is very rich in flora and fauna.

Amreng Tourist Centre: Amreng is a river cape situated between Kapili river and its tributary "Amreng River" surrounded by mystic blue hills and evergreen forest, it is famous for unique natural beauty. Also known as Koka/Panimur.

Khanduli Tourist Centre: This area offers temperate grassland. Extensive grassland with undulating moulds looks like desert sand dunes in clear moonlight.

Diphu: It is a small but very charming busy town. The town is located on a hill. Botanical garden in Diphu is an ideal place for an evening stroll. One can enjoy boating and get mesmerized by natural scenery, valuable trees and herbs of Recreation Park as well.

Silbheta: It is a favourite picnic spot which is surrounded by rain forests. A nature built stone bridge is also there.

Garampani: Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary, home of hollock gibbon and golden langur, has hot water spring as the name goes Garam-Hot and Pani-Water.

Dikrut: It's a beautiful waterfall located into the bosom of mountain.

Paklongkam Waterfall: Also known as Belughat. It is a very beautiful waterfall and picnic spot which attracts thousands of tourist throughout the year.
