Thampalakkadu is a village in Kottayam district, Kerala. It is 6 km from Kanjirappally, the same distance from Ponkunnam, Manjakuzhy, Koorali, Anakkal and Kappad. It is also about 4 km from Panamattom and Vanchimala. Located on the road from Kanjirapally to Manjakuzhy. Kanjirapally-Thampalakkadu-Manjakuzhy-Pala road is the shortest path joining the towns of Kanjirapally and Pala. Thampalakkadu name is derived from Thamboolam which was used for fixing the Idol at the Mahadeva Temple, by the legendary Naranathu Bhranthan.

It has a population of some 3500, mainly small farmers and employees of government departments and private establishments and the land area is supposed to be 5,000 acres which was once upon a time the domain of Karisseri and Kadakayam family.
