There was a time especially in India, when seeking psychological assistance was considered an extreme step, only for those who were ‘mentally ill’, or counselling for children and adolescents. However, today the trend is changing and although still considered stigmatic, more and more people are opening up to the fact that any of us may need psychological help at any juncture of life and it may be beneficial to seek help in time by consulting a trained person. This field is in its toddler stage in India but it is definitely growing.
