Tamil Nadu Land Rights Federation

Tamil Nadu Land Rights Federation was formed by Social Movements, NGOs, Research Institutions and Individual Researchers who are involved in defending and protecting the Land and resources rights of the marginalized communities such as Dalits, Tribal, Fisher Folk, Small and Marginal Farmers and Urban Slum Dwellers. This was formed in the year 2010 when all of them realized that the Indian State which is pursuing the neo liberal economic agenda had completely opened up the natural resources of the Country to the market forces who are indiscriminately plundering these resources to make profit and the marginalized communities who are affected and displaced by the unscrupulous plunders are out on the streets to defend their traditional domain and livelihood resources .The above mentioned Social Movements and NGOs who are directly or indirectly linked to the struggles of the marginalized communities have realized that all the struggles of the marginalized communities are isolated and sect oral and there is a need to bring these struggles to a converging point in order to effectively put an end to the neo liberal economic agenda and work towards building an alternative model of development which would reestablish the organic link between the humans and natural resources.
