More about Swanirvar

In 1992, Swanirvar started with promotion of sustainable agriculture in irrigated and intensively cultivated areas of southern West Bengal, with 115 villages and more than 10000 farmers .

It went on, to grow its reach by conduction of various kinds of training programmes to farmers and workers of other NGOs, ranging in duration from half a day to three days.

In 2007, Swanirvar trained 1009 farmers and 2360 women SHG members on vermicompost and home garden in collaboration with a government programme in Swarupnagar Block. Swanirvar is actively involved since 2008, to draw up Land Shaping projects under NREGS in Sundarbans.

Street theatre has been used extensively by Swanirvar for quite a few years for sensitizing the community. Village notice boards, wall writings, audio-visual show, rally, awareness camps, posters form other means of communication with the community at Swanirvar. Swanirvar participates in many village fairs. Written and audiovisual documentation of models, trials, and case studies is an on going process with us. Good liasion with National Innovation Foundation to identify local innovators and to facilitate exchange of ideas is one of our foremost concern to reach out to the needful.
