St.Mary's Church, Cuddalore-1

The Christian presence at Cuddalore which means cuddalore OT began by the end of the 16th century under religious priests coming from San Thome . In 1686 the Fransiscans were at Devanampattinam. What was under San
Thome came under Padroado and in1799 a Goanese Church was built on the site where now stands the Scared Heart Training Institude . It came under Irish Chaplains from in 1834.Although Pondicherry replaced the Irish in 1843 and the first church was built in 1850,in the maiden land,the main church of cuddalore continued to be the Goanese church till 1938,when the church was blessed and became the parish church.
