Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrith is a research oriented Public University located at Kalady near Kochi in Kerala. The university is named after the sage and philosopher Adi Sankaracharya and was established in the year 1993. The varsity is located on the banks of the river Poorna.The varsity works towards the publication and preservation of manuscripts and books in Sanskrit and other languages.The university functions through nine regional centres, namely Kalady, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Panmana, Thuravoor, Ettumanoor, Tirur, Koyilandy and Payyannur.DepartmentsThe university consists of the following departments. Its objective is to equip the students for better career management. Services of the cell includes guidance, counseling, training programmes, and recruitment drives. It is headed by Dr. Jose Antony (director), who is also the head of Department of Social Work. There is a full-time counselor providing guidance and counseling services as well as coordinating the functions of the cell. Mr. Arun Menachery, who is one of the best career experts in the state of Kerala, served as the first counselor of the cell and Ms. Jasmine George, who is an expert in couseling and gudiance, is the current counselor.
