South Siliguri

South Siliguri is the southern areas of Siliguri Metropolitan Area and the most promising areas too. This region consists of the old Siliguri and mostly the added areas of SMC. Apart from this, the region comprises of areas under Greater Siliguri region. Thought it was considered as one of the backwards area of Siliguri yet over the passage of time it has shown promise to become one of the most developing areas of Siliguri City. Especially, the economic and commercial growth of this region after the establishment of 'Uttar Kanya' the mini secretariet of Government of West Bengal has boosted up the regions potential to a higher esteem. Moreover, the corporates are focussing on the areas of Fulbari industrial estate and also the adjoining areas for establishing their corporate offices. The proximity of the Banglabanda Corridor or the Fulbari border with Bangladesh has boosted the economic output of the region. The road projects like Asian Highway and the Four lane Siliguri-Jalpaiguri Highway is going to boost the communication infrastructure of South Siliguri to the highest position.
