SMK Fomra Institute of Technology also known as SMKFIT, is dedicated to create an environment in which our students can excel. We aim to thoroughly prepare our students and inculcate high moral and professional standards in them. Located in the Thaiyur village near Kelambakkam on Old Mahabalipuram Road (IT Highway) 35km from Chennai, the college is spread over a sprawling area of 25 acres. Established in 2001, the college aims to impart education that will thoroughly prepare students for a professional career in any field of their choice.

The college offers 4-year Bachelor of Engineering degree programmes in Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

The college has also masters' degree programmes in M.E. (Computer Science and Engineering),M.E( Thermal Engineering) M.E. (Power Systems Engineering) and M.E. (VLSI Design). Evidence of our hard work and commitment can be found in the fact that the college is certified with an ISO 9001:2008 certification for imparting quality education

The college has a vision of promoting higher education in both general and technical areas with an experienced and dedicated faculty who have a firm belief in working together with full involvement and commitment.

The College has spacious Lecture Halls, Computer Labs, Electrical Lab, Electronic Devices Lab, Electronic Circuit and Control Lab, Microwave Lab, RF Lab, DSP Lab, Physics And Chemistry Labs, Drawing Hall, Workshop, Central Library, Canteen, Hostels (Boys And Girls) And Administrative Office. All infrastructure facilities meet the requirements prescribed as per the AICTE/ Anna University norms. Separate waiting halls/ rest rooms are provided for the boys and girls. Staying in the college campus is exciting and dynamic as students from various regions, background, culture and languages share their views of diversity in a united forum. The students learn from each other to develop a feeling of oneness and memorable friendship, an experience in a life-time and memory to be cherished throughout their life. Counselors advise the students with career choices and employment opportunities. Faculty helps in educational, mental, moral and emotional development and guide them to become good professionals.
