More about Singarutla Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

Peta sannigandla is a village at a distance of 1 km from the Karumpudi on the way -Piduguralla – karumpudI in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. Singarutla Agraharum is 4 km away from this village. Sri Narasimha swamy here is Swayumbhuvu. It is the main temple. But, as this temple is located in a very remote and in a dense forest, hence another temple is built in Peta sannigandla village for the benefit of devotees.

The Swayumbhuvu is Hiranyakashyapu Samhaara Roopi (having on his thighs the
demon king and tearing him apart). This type of Swayambhu is very rare and it’s difficult to find another such form of the Deity as Swayambhu. As this Deity is a Swayambhu, another Moorthy of NaraSimha is installed just by the side of this
Swayambhu for the visible Darshan of the devotees.

At the foot of the hill, there is a small lake which is considered as sacred tank (Pushkarini, Dona) which never dries even in hot summer season too. It is named as Paatala Ganga. Here, we find another Narasimha moorthy which has no temple.A rock of the hill itself took the form of an Umbrella making herself as SeshaPhani
for the Deity.

The famous Kaakatiya King of Warangal, Sri PrataapaRudhra Chakravarthy donated
thousands of acres of land to this temple.

The temple in the village Peta Sannigandla is in the middle of the village. The Swamy here is known as Abhinava Narasimha. Vaikuntha Ekadasi and NaraSimha Jayanthi festivals are grandly celebrated in these temples. The other hindu festivals Ugaadi (new year day), Vijaya Dashami (Dasaraa) and Sankranthi (Pongal)
are special occasions here and are worth seeing.

From the village Peta Sannigandla, the Singarutla Agrahaaram temple can be reached only in one’s own Vehicle. If the Devotees can manage to reach Peta Sannigandla village before 9 A.M., they can travel along with the Archakas to visit the forest temple i.e. Singarutla Agrahaaram and in return can have darshan at the temple in Peta Sannigandla village. During the British reign, a village local with a bar gun used to accompany the Archaka along with for safe guarding as it is a remote area with wild animals.
