Shri Ram Singh Dhauni Government Degree College Jainti, Almora

Established in 1996, Government Degree College Jainti, is located in a village in Almora District of Uttarakhand. Located at an altitude of about 1850 meter above sea level, it is a remote hilly area and the college campus itself is situated in a hillock on the outskirts of the village. The college is surrounded by a number of villages and hamlets and students enrolled in this college are mainly from rural background. At present Undergraduate Courses are being run in Arts & Commerce stream. The proposal for science faculty at UG level & upgradation of college to PG level in some selected subjects such as Hindi, Political Science & Economics has been sent to Government of Uttarakhand and in all probability it would materialize in near future.
Many villages surrounding Jainti have 10+2 schools. The catchment area of the college is substantial. For the last two years efforts have been made to make higher education more lucrative. The strength of the college has been increasing progressively. With the introduction of the vocational courses, the college has attained the potential to become an established centre for learning in the area.
