Shri C C Shah Sarvajanik English High School - Experimental School

Principal Dr. D.V.Desai' s dream of starting Experimental School in the campus of the B.Ed. college was materialized when his idea was accepted by the standing committee of the Sarvajanik Education Society in the year 1980.During that period some enthusiastic members of the Sarvajanik Education Society got a big plot of 12578 sq. mt. from the municipal Corporation and it was decided to start the Experimental School on that plot. Donor Shree Sitaram Madhavji Poonawala was bent upon starting the school from the 1st of June 1981.In the beginning 11 classes with 500 students were begun in two shifts in the principal' s bungalow in the MTB Arts College Compound.There were classes for both Gujarati and English medium. In Gujarati medium classes for Jr. K. G., Sr. K.G. and std. 1,2,5 and 8 were started and in English Medium classes were begun for Jr. K. G., Sr. K.G. and std 1.Mrs Pannaben Desai was appointed as the In-charge principal of the school.Dr.Dhirubhai Desai Principal B. Ed College then took great care and pain in the development and progress of the school.The School had run in the MTB College Campus in the first term and then in the second term it was shifted to the new building which was built near Ambika Niketan.

From next academic year June 1982 Primary and Secondary sections were separated. From July 1982 Mrs. Urmilaben Shroff was appointed as the principal of the Primary and Pre-primary section whereas Mrs. Pannaben Desai continued to render her services as In-charge Principal.

The third year i.e. in the year June 1983 as the classes for std 4,7 and 10 were opened, the school became a complete Unit from Jr. K.G. to std X in Gujarati Medium. From Jul 1983 Mr. Amrutbhai Naik was appointed as the first principal of the school.

In the year 1986 in the secondary section i.e. std 8 to 10 there were 425 students. In the same year the school was awarded as the best school of the state and Pr. Mr. Amrutbhai Naik was awarded as the Best Principal.

In the year 1987- 486 students were studying in the secondary section. That same year as a result of Dr. D.V. Desai' s great efforts permission was granted to start Higher Secondary Section std. XI both Science and General stream and the same year classes also started. "Bhumi Poojan" for building the most modern well-squipped laboratories was done by Mr. R.K.Desai.

In the year 1992 on retirement of Principal Mr. Amrutbhai Naik, Mr. Devang R. Desai was appointed the principal of the Experimental School.

In the year 1993-94 "Bhumi Poojan" of the auditorium the school complex was done by the Chairman of Sarv. Education Society Shri Govindjibhai Patel and a vast hall of area of 8000 sq. ft became ready for use.

In the year 1995-96 the inauguration of the hall was done by Hon. Justice Shri D.A.Desai. The Municipal Commissioner Shri S.R. Rao was the Guest of Honour on this occasion.

In the year 2000-2001 "Bhumi Poojan" ceremony for skating Ring for outdoor games was done by the Chairman of the Sarvajanik Education Society Shri Jamnadas Halatwala. The Skating Ring was inaugurated by Mr. Halatwala and a well-known industrialist Mr. C.R. Patil.

In year 2002 the celebration of completion of second decade was done with great pomp.
Principal Mr. Devang Desai was selected for 'Sardar Patel National & International Gujarat Gaurav Award for Education'. On the 6th Nov.2001 he was awarded by Gujarat Governor Shri Sundarsinh Bhandari, President Shri Dhirubhai Shah and Secretary Shri Ishwarsinh Makwana.

In the year 2004 there were 15 classes from Playgroup to Senior K. G. and 28 classes from 1st to 7th Total there were 2525 Students in the primary section.

In the year 2005 the principal Mrs. Ranjanben B. Desai retired. And From 2006 Mrs. Ashaben B. Desai was appointed as the principal of the Primary Section [ Gujarati Medium ] Exeperimental school.

Gujarat Sahitya Sangam Ahmedabad and Antar Bhartiya Sahitya Bandhutva Manch,Rajasthan honoured the principal Mr. Devang R. Desai with "Shri Indukant Trivedi National Award as best Educationist". This honour was given in a grand ceremony by Shri Ramanbhai Pathak, Shri Prem Sharda, Ex MLA late Shri Ahesan Jaffery, Shri Amrutbhai Vadia and Shri Jayshreeben Thakar.

International institute for Sanskritwahini, Chandara Foundation Bombay selected him as the best Principal for outstanding services in the field of Education, Culture and Society.

In 1990 he got the ' Best Teacher Award' by Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Parishad. The principal was appointed as a Committee member in the project "Gujarat in the direction of National Curriculum" for std 1 to 12.

In a Talent Search Programme for text-book writing the article on "Moral Values oriented Education" written by the principal was selected by Gujarat Rajya Pathya Pustak Mandal.

The school was also awarded as the Best Educational Institution by Ujas Magazine.

Human Resources Department of The Central Government of India, New Delhi organizes a National level competition by N.T.S.T.C. Network of research projects in the field of Educational and Social Sciences Our school became The National Winner for successive three years. The School Science teacher Mrs Praharsha Mehta got got the Best Teacher-Guide award.

Tusharbhai Varia also actively participated in the research projects.

The Youth Festival is held by the Gujarat Government every year at different levels.The Championship Shield was achieved for successive six years by the school. In this festival folk dance, drama, classical dance, classical music etc cultural competitions and essay writing, elocution, elocution extempore etc literature base competitions are held. In all such successful activities valuable guidance and motivation was provided by Respected Principal Shri Devang Desai.

The principal was selected in the team of authors for the Text-book of Xth Social Science.

The Science fair is held every year by G.C.E.R.T. at district level. Our school won the championship shield for successive five years under the guidance and motivation of Principal Mr. Devang Desai. School has also given outstanding performance and won at the state level competition.

In "Karmayogi Teachers' Training Programme" highest number of teachers of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Sections have served as Key Resource Persons and Resource Persons. The school Principal has also been appointed and served as a Principals' Trainer and Key Resource Person in the subject of Social Sciences. In this way the school has highly qualified and highly efficient teaching staff.

After the most disastrous flood of 2006 the city was victimized by epidemic diseases like malaria, leptospirosis,viral fever etc.Our school Science teacher of Higher secondary Dr. Falguni Patel guided a team of students in National Science Congress for the Project about Leptospirosis in Surat; its detailed information and diagnosis.its remedy etc.The project was selected at Zonal level and was presented at State level.Our school Science teacher Smt.Praharshaben Mehta from Secondary section achieved Award for her successful guidance. She has been the recipient of The Best Guide Teacher Award given by Human Resources Dept.Central Govt. for the project of 'Noise Pollution' presented by the students' team at New Delhi.

Mrs Praharshaben Mehta is also recipient of the Award for outstanding performance in the field of Education" given jointly by the South Gujarat Education Enhensement Council and Giants Group of Narmadnagari.

On the World Environment Day 2006 Mrs Praharshaben Mehta received the prestigious award of "Environmental Education & Devlopment Award 2006" by the Indian Institute of Environment & Ecology at New Delhi.

Our school Higher Secondary teacher Mrs. Minaxi Vakharia and Secondary teacher Mrs. Nishaben Joshi received the "Award for outstanding performance in the field of Education" given jointly by the South Gujarat Education Enhensement Council and Giants Group of Narmadnagari in the year 2002.Thus the school has highly qualified, trained and efficient teaching staff that shine out not only in school but have shown their talents at different level and brought honour to school. At present there are 12 classes in secondary section and total 883 students studyin the secondary section.In Higher secondary section in 11th standard there are 3divisions in Science stream and 2 divisions in General stream and in 12th std. there are 3 divisions in Science stream and 2 divisions in General stream. Total 413 students study in Science stream and 264 students study in General stream. The School has the most modern and well equipped Physics, Chemistry and Biology and Computer laboratories.
