S.B.S. Govt. College,Kotkapura

Shaheed Bhagat Singh College is recognized by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation council), Govt. of India. Kotkapura enjoys good reputation as an institution of higher education in the state. It is situated on Kotkapura-Bathinda highway.There are two teaching blocks which surround the administrative block. One teaching block is designed on the university pattern with five lecture theatres having seating capacity of 200 students each and twenty other big and small well-furnished classrooms. The second block is in the classical Victorian fashion with lecture rooms having portico and facing lush green lawns. There is a cinder track for athletics fulfilling all national standards. A slanting cycling track is also there in the athletics track. All facilities have been provided to the students conductive to their curricular and co-curricular development such as canteen maintaining all sanitary and hygienic conditions.All the office work has been computerized. The college has a big and hygienic canteen. There are three units of NSS; two for Boys and one for the girls.

The college has big sports ground for cricket, basketball, badminton, lawn tennis, football, hockey, Korfball, kho-kho, volleyball. It has a big stadium having all the modern facilities for sports activities. There exists an old students association also. Various Arts subject are taught viz. Geography, Home-Science, Psychology, Music(Instrumental and Vocal), Physical Education, Economics, History, English Literature, Punjabi literature,Hindi Literature, Mathematics, Public Administration etc. Associations are formed in various streams every year, which conduct academic activities every year. The college is having its youth services wing, which organizes various activities like fine arts,cultural activities to bringout the hidden talent of the students. The students take part in youth festivals at university and national level.The magazine 'Kuknas' is published with a motive to shine the creative emotions of the students.The college has setup a "Career Guidance Bureau" which provides guidance and information to students from time to time. Almost 1000 students take admission every academic year in the college.
