Sanchor

Sanchore is a town in the Jalore district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is the headquarters of the Sanchore tehsil located on National Highway 15. The historical town is situated 163.2km from the city of Jalore and was once known as Satyapur. Nearby villages include Pratappura (4.4km away), Chimrawas ( away) and Dhamana (6.1km away).There is a prominent Jain temple in the town, and it hosts a cattle fair Baba Raghunathpuri Pashu Mela every year in the month of April and May.Economymany infrastructure projects were in progress in Sanchor. Oil exploration company Cairn Energy, discovered 480000000t of crude oil in the Barmer-Sanchore basin in 2010. The Narmada Canal, which begins in Gujarat, enters Rajasthan state near the village Silu in Sachore tehsil, after passing through 458km in Gujarat.Pathmeda village near Sanchore has Gopal Govardhan Gaushala, the largest Gaushala in India. Spread over 200acre, the gaushala takes care of more than 18,000 cattle.
