Sainik School Balachadi, Jamnagar

"Sainik School Balachadi" is a premier English Medium boys Boarding School under the Ministry of Defence, ranked 2nd after Sainik School Kunjpura in the list of the 25 Sainik Schools in India.

It got established in 1961 with the primary aim of preparing boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the Indian Armed forces through National Defence Academy as the Gateway. It also aims to eradicate the regional/ rural-urban disparities in the officer cadre in the armed forces. Even though the prime motive is to equip children to join the prestigious Armed Forces, It is committed to orient the educational and developmental processes in a manner that help to groom the students into leaders (pioneers) in their chosen fields.

It is affiliated to India's Central Board of Secondary Education. Children are admitted to it in June/July each year, at the age of 9 to 11 years. Class 6th & 9th is the entry point for getting into Sainik Schools. Admission is based on an competitive exam i.e. All India Sainik School Entrance Exam , held in the month of februrary every year.

The School located at the North-western margins of the Saurashtra regions in the Balachadi Estate facing Gulf of Kutch in the North.It is 32 km away from Jamnagar. The Balachadi Estate was formerly a sea side summer resort that belonged to the rulers of Nawanagar State. The estate comprises 426 acres of land in the mangrove rich coastal belt of Saurashtra at the Gulf of Kutch.

There was a campsite for Polish refugee children of World War II, built by K. S. Digvijaysinhji, Jam Saheb Maharaja of Nawanagar in 1942, near his summer resort. He gave refuge to hundreds of Polish children rescued from Poland and Soviet camps.The campsite is now part of the Sainik School Balachadi which includes a historical mansion and an elegant tourist sea beach.
