Saamipya

Saamipya. The word itself means closeness or an intimate bond. We couldn’t think of a better name for our labour of love for an escape from the urban drudgery engulfing our lives. It has been a distant dream ever since the day we met and started our journey together for a space that spells nature, peace, animals, joy and the night sky.
Over the years of marriage and a beautiful baby daughter, priorities changed and we embraced the monotony with the same love, but that didn’t allow for our dream to be forgotten. The dream stayed on in our hearts and evolved and matured, the want of it only growing louder by the day. Like the saying goes, when you really desire something from the bottom of your heart, the universe aligns itself to make way for your dream, in all its splendid glory.
And therefore, finally, after all these years-Saamipya.
We wouldn’t label it as a farm or a weekend getaway because that wouldn’t do it justice.
Our way of life has us designed in such a way that we love to label things, places and people. Labels bring in expectations. Expectations demand itineraries. Itineraries bring in time limits and time limits are curbing.
And so, we made; sorry, we are making (and I say that because it is going to be a continuous process ) Saamipya a space where we can fully engage with ourselves and nature, where we will learn to grow our own food, and allow our daughter & ourselves the privilege of boredom. Boredom provokes creativity and creativity has the potential of unleashing the hidden genius.
Apart from her urban schooling, we’d love for her to learn her lessons from the outdoors, make her own make believe games, get her hands and feet messy in the mud, sing around a campfire, follow a millipede and gaze at the sky on a starry night.
