Royal Brothers was founded by three young engineers of Bengaluru; T.N Manjunath, who teaches Mechanical Engineering at R.V College of Engineering, Abhishek Chandrashekar, who is a freshly passed out Mechanical Engineer from the same Institution and Srikrishna, a software engineer working for IGate. The team has been strengthened by the addition of 3 more minds, Girish Kumar a Mechanical Engineer, Avinash a Software professional and Ramnath Pujar a banker.
Manjunath saw an opportunity in the passion and craze people possessed towards riding Royal Enfield motorcycles. Premium costs of these bikes made him think of a solution so that anybody who wishes to could ride these beastly bikes without owning them. The result was Royal Brothers, started initially to rent out only Royal Enfield Motorcycles. Manjunath says the entire credit of Royal Brothers being operational on the roads goes to Mr.Ravi Kumar.P, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Transport and Power, Govt of Karnataka. “The major hurdle was to get an official nod from the RTO to operate self-ride motorcycles as these never even existed and there was no provision in their online system to incorporate one. The process like any other, was affected largely by delays and running around. When this seemed like an impossible task, Mr.Ravi Kumar, came as a life saver, who took up our case by himself. Greatly appreciating the uniqueness and potential of the start-up, Mr.Ravi speeded up the formalities and other documentation that was required for the self-ride licence to be given to Royal Brothers. His intention as a bureaucrat was to encourage entrepreneurship in young minds and to support innovative ideas which could help our country in the future. Since then, there was no looking back and Royal Brothers became the first bike rental start-up to get such a licence in South India. We are grateful to Ravi sir for his support and appreciation”.
Using these bikes is simple: Register your name and driver’s license in the company’s official website, select the bike, the duration of rent and a pick-up point feasible to you. Then you can just pay the money for the duration of the rent through an online transaction and ride off the bikes. The price for Honda Activa scooters is set at Rs. 16 an hour, which is very attractive and affordable. Royal Enfield Tariff starts from Rs.30 an hour.
