Rotary Club of Jorhat (RID 3240)

Rotary Club of Jorhat established in 1965 has an impeccable track record of community service.

In the early seventies the club played pioneering role in Polio Vaccination even before the Government program started. The club also played the role of facilitator in helping the visually challenged persons. The club has been regularly providing civic amenities like public urinal, waiting shed, drinking water etc. In the recent past the club mobilized resources from foreign club for improvement of infrastructure facilities of a destitute home viz. “Dagaon Anath Ashram”. It also motivated the community to support the institution which was then in a pitiable condition. Rotary Club of Jorhat also helped “Prerona”, an institute for spastic children, with valuable teaching aid, and overhead tank. The club also upgraded the Pediatric Ward of Jorhat Civil Hospital with assistance from ONGC.

Most importantly, the setting up of a fully equipped ROTARY ICU at the Jorhat Christian Medical Centre (Mission Hospital) has changed the medical-care scenario of Jorhat and its surrounding area. Till now more then 6000 critically ill patients have been treated & saved.
