Roopvas "रूपवास"- An Ideal Village

The villagers know some of the history traditionally about the village but it is not recorded. The elderly people used to say that village roopvas was founded 400 years back by Sipahsalar Roop Singh between A.D.1605 and 1628. Raja Anup Rai had given 2000 Bigha land to Roop Singh to stay here which had been come from Bharatpur Rajsthan virasat. Roop Singh leave the village and returned to Baratpur after angriness from Raja Anup rai because He had done treaty with mughal emperor.
Pt. Meghraj Sharma had a kanakpura Virasat in Harayana. He had lost life of his three brothers in battle with mugal emperor shah jahan and moves to village Tolly and again moved in village roopvas. Remaining Four family were resided in village 2 Brahmans (Meghraj Sharma and Pathak Ji), 1 Harijans (Gangola), 1 Khatik.
Pt. Megraj Sharma was our First ancestors.
The history of Roopvas begins even before 1200 B.C. This region is nearer to the capital of Pandavas - Indraprastha and Hastinapur. After the decline of Hastinapur, Ahar which is situated in the north of Anupshahr became an important place for Pandavas..
There was a big wall between Haveli to burj had seen by many villagers was the wall of Ghatotkacha Fort.

Location of Fort in history:
•1½ Yogan east from Ahar (Here is located the famous temple of godess avantika & another one temple of shiv.)
•1½ yojana west from Karvas (in the time of Mahabharat this was the place of great king Karna where he used to donate to 50 kg of gold every day, here is located the famous temple of Godess kalyani)
•1 yojan from River Ganga.
• Near Gaudali Sahar Now Baksara

Tourist / Religious places in District Bunlandshahr near Roopvas Village: -

(A) Karnavas - 12 KM from Roopvas, In the time of Mahabharat this was the place of great king Karna where he used to donate to 50 kg of gold every day. Here is located the famous temple of godess kalyani.

(B) Ahar - on the bank of river Ganga is situated the famous temple of godess Avantika & another one temple of Shiv.

(C) Belon - the famous temple of godess Belon is situated here.

(D) Anoopshahr - 7 KM from Roopvas, An old town famous for pilgrimages situated on the river Ganga. Several religious bathing and festivals are organized all the year round.

(E) Rajghat - 18 KM from Roopvas, on the bank of Ganga, several temples are located here. The special temple of lord Hanuman which has 40 feet high statue.

(F) Narora - 22 KM from Roopvas, world fame nuclear power plant is located here. A barrage is made on river Ganga from where several canals originate. A good picnic spot and a big park is located here. It is 65 km from Bulandshahr.
