Roop Nagar No. 1

The Government Girls/Boys Senior Secondary School No. 1 Roop Nagar commonly knows as "Roop Nagar No.1" or (RN1) is one of the top school in Delhi. It was founded in 1957. It is managed by Delhi Directorate of Education(DDE) and affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE).
Prior to 1957 the Delhi administration had started a number of Secondary School but no Senior Secondary Schools. It was only on May 01, 1957 that four new Senior Secondary School, including the GGSS(Government Girls Senior Secondary) School No. 1, were founded.

LOCATION & CAMPUS:
Govt. Girls/Boys Senior Secondary School No. 1 situated in Roop Nagar in North Delhi, 1 km from the main campus or North Campus of University of Delhi. It is right next to very famous 'Kamla Nagar' market of North Delhi.

FACILITIES:
RN1 has a large green campus area and playground, an auditorium with a capacity of more than 400 people, a sports complex hall, a modern Library with a collection of more than 18,000 books and magazines. The school has laboratories for Physics, Chemistery, Biology, Social Science, Mathematics, Computer learning lab and also has Yoga hall & Music hall. Roop Nagar has 8 blocks includilng a Police Station, Fire Station and many parks etc.
Classes take place in two shifts; The Morning Shift(for Girls only) runs from 07 AM to 12:30 PM and the after noon The Evening Shift(for Boys only) runs from 01 PM to 06:30 PM.

AWARDS:
The school has won many Zonal, State and National Level awards in Sports & Education.
1.) In 2008 The First Shift got awarded 'The Best School in State' by the DDE.
2.) In 2009 The Second Shift got awarded 'The Indira Award' for 'Best Zonal School' by the DDE. etc.

SCHOOL MAGAZINE:
The 'Pragya' annual school magazine of IInd shift covers events organized by the schools, photographs of meritorious students and also features students articles, poems and jokes. It is published in Hindi, English and Sanskrit.

NCC & SCOUT:
The school also have an active groups of NCC and Scouts & Guides students. They participated in different activities around the year and also attend annual training campus organised by the authorities.

ANNUAL DAY:
The school celebration its annual day every year in the months of May with different cultural programmes and prize distribution to meritious students.
