Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda Vidyamandir, Malda

RKMVVM, a unit of Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Malda, was established in 1944 with the motto of educating poor boys in locality. Late Swami Parashivanandaji was the founder Secretary of Vidyamandir. The school had its both primary and secondary section only for boys. The first batch of Vidyamandir appeared school final examination in 1954. Now Vidyamandir is upgraded to higher secondary school. First batch appeared Higher Secondary examination in 2004. Separate three-storied higher secondary building was set up in 2008. It was the result of tireless efforts of the then Head Master Swami Sumanasanandaji Maharaj and other monks and some devotes. It was inaugurated by Revered Vice-President Maharaj Srimat Swami Smarananandaji in that year. Vidyamandir was not a fully residential school but it had hostel facility. The first hostel building ‘Brahmhananda Vidyarthi Bhaban’ was set up in 1963. Now the hostel can accommodate about seventy students (for class-V to X). Here, having been brought up in an ashrama’s atmosphere from childhood, there is a chance of nurturing their qualities like purity, straight-forwardness, serenity of mind, devotion to God etc. with their cognitive faculty of brain. The resultant effect of that built a strong foundation of character which, in future, helps them to solve their life problems.
