Rahul Prabhakar

Rahul Prabhakar worked as a Center of Excellence Head for a leading travel company in India. He is essentially a travel junkie whose love for the folklore took him to ten different countries, including South Korea where he stayed with his family (including two dogs) from 2005 to 2012.

He is a leading member of the global technical writing community, having spearhead several initiatives to elevate the profession. Rahul has a Bachelors of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering and a Diploma in Advertising Management.

He also studied management at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (India), SDA Bocconi School of Management (Italy), UCLA, Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) , Anderson School of Business Los Angeles (USA), and College of Business, City University of Hong Kong (Hong Kong/ Shenzhen, China).

In the last 15 years, Rahul has worked for some of the world's leading technology industry companies, such as Oracle, Samsung, Lionbridge, and Agilent. He has also been published in leading technology magazines such as, PC Magazine, Dataquest, IEEE PCS, The Smart Techie, STC INTERCOM, and so on.

He is the owner/moderator of a technical writing discussion group called Technical Writers India (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/technical_writers_india). In addition, Rahul blogs regularly on travel and technical communication related topics. Rahul has promoted technical communication in the Indian subcontinent through his listserv, meetup groups, and articles in various newsletters, journals, and magazines. He even presented a paper at the STC Annual Conference, Chennai in 2004, and represented Samsung at a panel discussion on "Internationalization of the technical communication profession" at the 55th STC Summit in Philadelphia, USA (May 2008).

What's unique about Rahul is that he has shared his research and publications with the rest of the global community. Rahul gets his motivation from a part of the world that is just learning about technical communication; even though his research and subsequent publications are of interest to everyone.
