Patkar-Varde College, Goregaon

S. S. & L. S. Patkar College of Arts & Science & V. P. Varde College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai was established in 1964. The college aims to expand in all directions, keeping abreast of the new trends in management, technology and education. The main objective of the college was to become a highly-regarded sought-after educational institution and contribution to the well-being and development of the nation. This college was established with the main aim of enabling the students to be intellectually alive and responsible citizens of the nation ready for continuous personal professional and social development.

Patkar Varde College was founded by Chikitsak Samuha, a club formed of like-minded individuals who were keenly interested in education. The College was named after Sir Sitaram Patkar, a notable judge of the Bombay High Court. Sir Sitaram was deeply interested in furthering women`s education and was the Vice-chancellor of the S.N.D.T. University for many years. Infrastructural facilities development of Patkar Varde College started with its establishment in 1964. More developments are under consideration by the college authorities.

The college has been increasing the various courses offered and their facilities to accommodate the changing trends in education and industry. The basic infrastructure of Patkar Varde College aims to provide students with the optimum learning environment. Patkar Varde College provides several evening classes for the benefit of the society. At present, the college conducts evening distance education classes.

Patkar-Varde College is the centre for Distance Education Programme of University of Mumbai. Patkar-Varde College has a place of pride amongst the various educational institutions from Jogeshwari to Virar. Institute has been rendering a valuable service to the residents of this area since 1964
