Who We Are
PARASPAR is a youth collective based in Delhi, India, that since 2016 has been working as a platform to build awareness and facilitate meaningful engagement of young people with their surroundings. It aims to build an aware and active youth who can engage with their surroundings purposefully thereby adding meaning to it and to themselves. Paraspar operates by giving opportunities to young students concerned with pressing social issues to work as a community and bring depth and meaning to everything around them.


How We Work
The idea of Paraspar is to select some young students of Indian universities that show a clear concern and desire to work for the society and give them an opportunity to engage in community work through collaborations with some of the most reputed and credible Indian civil society organizations engaged in a variety of social works.
Selection Process:
The selection of candidates comprises three phases.
Phase 1. Paraspar launches a call for applications.
Phase 2. Applications are scrutinized and shortlisted candidates are contacted for an interview.
Phase 3. Selected candidates participate in a workshop to prepare them for their prospective stints with the civil society organizations and to give them a framework to reflect in their responsibilities and contributions towards society.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
After this brief workshop to make their prospective exposure-sessions as much fruitful as possible, they are sent to their respective organizations.Once they return from these sessions, they are asked to send us a feedback elucidating their experience and their idea of continuous engagement with the issue for which they have worked. Afterwards,their experience and understanding is utilized to keep them constantly engaged with their respective interest areas of social work. This is done by keeping them informed about happenings of their respective fields through the organizations where they worked and the people from Paraspar who coordinated with them during their stints with it.


Ethos & Beliefs
*A society is characterized by pattern of relationships amongst its individuals. An ever developing society can be built only when this relationship is collaborative in nature. Paraspar aims at fostering this kind of collaborative relationship.
*The idea of charity for the betterment of society is inherently flawed. Instead of charity, the actions based on awareness of one’s stake in the society add real value to it. Paraspar strives to instill this awareness amongst the youth.
*Why youth ? Because this is the age of experimentation , of inquisitiveness , of innovation and of a sense of invincibility . These are the characteristics that a society needs among its individuals if it is aspiring for a meaningful future.Also, this is a period of time where meaningful experiences can have huge impact on the individuals.
*Why students ? Because they know that they are in a formative period of their lives, have fresh ideas and opinions about their surroundings, and if engaged appropriately, can lead to incredible outcomes.
*A huge challenge for our youth nowadays is that they don’t have easy access to engage and collaborate with different organizations working with society. This lack of opportunities precludes them to translate their vision, hopes, ideas and views into reality. Paraspar chooses its partnering organizations by factoring in some crucial criteria including the issues they are engaged with, their impact at the grass roots level, their structure and credibility of the people associated with them. Therefore, through us, it becomes easy for young people to get access to genuine and credible organizations.
