Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is one of the protected wild life sanctuaries located in the Palakkad district, Kerala. It is spread over a 643.66 square kilometre in the bio diversity hot spot, Western Ghats. It is surrounded by Nenmara forest division in the North, Chalakudy forest division in the west, Vazhchal forest division in the south and Anamalai Tiger Reserve in the East. Its diverse landscapes host an enchanting ecosystem for the rich flora and fauna. Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is the home to 39 mammal species, 41 Amphibian species, 178 Birds species, 61 reptile species, 47 fish species, 1049 insect species, and 202 butterfly species. The sanctuary is also referred as the ‘state capital for the massive gaur’ by wildlife experts.
