It has an average elevation of 218 meters (718 feet).HistoryAccording to tradition a religious congregation is held every year in Sri Panikeswara Swamy Temple.During this congregation there will be an abhishekam to shivalingam in temple and the marriage of Lord Shiva with Parvati devi followed by a car festival in the evening.Coconuts and Ornaments are offered to the deity.It is a very ancient festival confined to panyam and the neighbouring villages.Shri P.V.Bhimasena Rao (also spelled as P.V.Bheemasena Rao) and the member's of his family who were the feudal lords(Zamindars) are the trustees to the temple's and festival's celebrated by Hindus from this village and the neighbourhood congregates.After the festival prasadam is distributed to all the devotees.Even now the religious congregation is celebrated on the eve of Shivaratri. Bheemasena Rao's father Krishna Rao was a Dēśamukhi during the rule of Maratha Empire.DemographicsThe village is home to about 14562 people, among them 7291 are male and 7271 are female. 79% of the whole population are from general caste, 8% are from schedule caste and 13% are schedule tribes.
