Paddar

The whole population of Paddar is the amalgamation of the different communities mainly Hindus, Budhists and Muslims which have arrived from the surrounding areas like Zanskar and Himachal. Pre independence Paddar was a tehsil which included the Zanskar region in Ladakh. After independence the status was taken away from us which was finally restored in the year 2005.
The people of Paddar worshipped the Snake God, the traces of which can be seen all around the region and other Gods and Godesses. The main livelihood of the people of Paddar was dependent on farming and cattle grazing.
There are many folk songs and different local festivals which bonds the relation of different religions living here, which in turn helps living in peace and harmony.
