Church History

The Omallloor St.Peter’s Jacobite Syrian Church founded in the name of leader of apostoles St. Peter. Raising the message of tolerance love and brotherhood to advance in faith is one of the importance churches in the Southern Doiceses of the Malankara Jacobite Syrian Church.

After the 1958 peace in church Omalloor St. Thomas Valiya Palli. The maternal Parish of St. Peter’s Church was marching towards progress while Elevanamannil and E.O. Thomas Corepiscopa was the parish priest Vilavinal Pappi sir the trustee a decision was made to rebuild the church. It was at that time the new throne debate arose leading to differences of opinion though the parish priest was transferred he did not accept it. Consequently the Antioch believers were decided their freedom of worshit. They had to strive strongly suffer tranship and sacrifices to sustain their faith. They resisted all oppsessions un compromisingly through legal combats for many years. They loss the church and properties built by their money. Hundles for spiritual matters were many money power and muscle power couldn’t win over the powerful faith of the people. The believers assembled in houses and discussed future plants. A chapel was built in the picturesque land brought in 1976 from the parish member Mannil Punnamangalath, M.E. Easow, Mannil Kochaipe Varghese near the pilgrim centre Manjinikkara Dayara. Till now Holy workship was conducted here.

In 1994 the late Holy Catholicate Baselious Paulose II blessed the foundation stone and the parish metropolitan H.G. Kuriakose Mar Coorilose laid the foundation. The new church has been built near the chapel itself. It houses two floors an auditorium at the bottom and church on top. Architect Joseph Peter has succeeded in building both traditional and modern styles. The church is made beautiful with sculptures befitting eastern tradition. The main throne is in the new of St. Peter that on the north in the name of holy mother of god. South Holy Elias III Patriarch.It is indeed a matter of rare luck for a generation to build a church.

Very Rev. T.C. Abraham Corepiscopa who has been the vicar from the beginning of construction. His leadership and service highly commendable. The consecration ceremony was held at 2007 April, 13,14 on the main officiation of H.E. Mar Baselios Thomas I Catholicos along with other Metrapolitians.
