Amboli is a charming hill station at an altitude of 710 m ASL in the picturesque southern range of Western Ghats.

The way up is easily motor able. The road slowly winds its way though hairpin curves surrounded by greenery.
Amboli attracts a large number of holiday makers and honeymooners and nature enthusiasts contending strongly with Matheran & Mahabaleshwar for greenery and large biodiversity of amphibians, reptiles, butterflies & birds. A bird singing somewhere in the distance, all is calm, all is quite. Mornings and evenings are punctuated by large calls of jungle fawl. while Langoor and macaques chatter in the tree tops.

Amboli’s landscape provides a good backdrop for the frames of a trigger happy photographer. It is also a trekker’s delight. Its enchanting wooded slopes and paths with carpets of moss are excellent for a leisurely stroll.

Although summer is the best season to visit, if you are brave enough to game the monsoon, rewards are forthcoming. The thick curtains of mist gracefully lift to reveal the most dazzlingly panoramic view. The gentle wooded slopes, rippling streams makes Amboli perfect for trekking. During monsoon the Sun is truant for days and in summer the mercury barely manages to reach 28 C. The climate is pleasant through the year.

Amboli is a regular haunt for students of Botany and nature lovers. If bird watching is your true sport get ready to identify 135 species of birds. Experience the excitement of your first glimpse of the Scarlet Minivet, spot a Paradise Flycatcher, catch the sapphire blue flash of a Kingfisher skimming the surface of river bed for fish. It’s spectacular variety of plant life, Reptiles, Amphibians & Mammals will undoubtedly keep you spellbound for hours. Our jungle safari provides you a chance to experience these jungle joys, while you trek or drive through the thick forest.. A number of animals are also sighted like Sambar, Barking deer, Porcupines, Sloth bear, Squeerals or even a Lepard inhabiting the dense forest. If you are lucky you might spot a magnificent specimen of Indian Bison or Gaur.

Amboli is just a days trip from Belgaum, Panjim, Kolhapur and offers attractions like Parikshit Point, Mahadev Garh, Shirgaonkar Point, Kawale shet valley, Amboli waterfall, Nangartas waterfall and a holy place like Hiranyakeshi River origin.

Amboli is situated on Vengurla-Belgum state highway no 112 in Sindhudurg district. The population is @ 4000. The main road is lined with shops and small restaurants of all shapes and sizes that form the main bazaar. You could shop around for local honey, and Konkani products like Kokam Aagal /syrup, Aamba Poli, Phanas Poli, Mango pulp, Bundi laddu, and Aaurvedik medicines like Nirgundi Tel, Jaswand Tel manufactured by Local “Mahila Bachat Group”.
