Odia Society of Varanasi

The primary vision is to get ourselves binded with the cultural heritage and traditions of Odisha . It aims to build a community of the odia people who are or were staying in and around Varanasi, UP, India. All those in whose life, Varanasi has a special presence, are welcome. This samaja is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the promotion and propagation of Odia culture in Varanasi by bringing together all the people interested in Odisha through socio-cultural events, and developmental activities. It will work for the welfare of its members.VUS has been instrumental in fostering Odia heritage, which include food culture, performing and visual arts & crafts, music and ethnic wear etc., in the holy city of Varanasi since 1940s. It has been officially registered on May 15, 2013. Its objectives are:
1) To promote an awareness of the rich heritage of Odisha among Odia communities outside the state of Odisha focusing on literature, arts, music, dance, festivals, rituals, sports, games, environment, social problems, mythology and philosophy.
2) To hold concerts and performances of Music, Dance, Literature, Arts and Cinema.
3) To establish and develop relations with national and international cultural organizations and people.
4) To enhance the well-being and social standing of VUS.
5) To organize Lectures, Seminars, Workshops, Discussion Forums and Research on Music, Dance, Literature, Arts, Cinema, Mythology, Environment, Social Problems and Philosophy observing Festivals, Rituals, and National events.
6) To set up Library and Study Centre for promoting Oriya Culture.
7) To deliver hope, restore dignity and provide comfort to the people affected by natural disasters.
8) To publish newsletters, books, periodicals, research papers on Music, Dance, Literature, Arts, Cinema, Mythology and Philosophy.
9) VUS may engage in such other activities as are appropriate to its purpose at the discretion of the Executive Committee.
10) The association will not discriminate based on race, religion, caste, creed, nationality or sex.

Any person interested in the objectives stated above shall be eligible for membership.
