As Nasik develops and grows, so does its need for quality education and learning. Situated in Pathardi Phata, a rapidly growing area of Nasik, is a pre-school that focuses on maximising curiosity and learning abilities of students – North Star Academy.
Nestled in a lush surroundings at the foothill of Pandavleni, North Star Academy is a school with sprawling playgrounds and a lovingly crafted campus – open and airy, filled with bright colours and teaching tools that create an environment of playful learning. “Education should not be about rote-learning and high-stress cramming, especially at a young age! Children need freedom to explore their surroundings and engage with their lessons in a fun, stimulating manner – that is the only way to ensure that they ask questions and learn from the answers. A habit of curiosity and learning is instilled early, but continues to enrich their life-long experiences” says Alka Singh, founder of NSA.
For Alka, starting a school has been a long cherished dream turned into reality. While she is a successful entrepreneur who set up her own factory in Satpur, Alka’s first job, and her first love was always teaching. After graduating with a BEd (Bachelor in Education) degree from…. Alka began her teaching career at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Devlali. For the next twenty years she gained experience, teaching at Fravashi Academy,DPS Noida , and Fravashi Academy. As an entrepreneur and teacher, Alka realised the vital importance of instilling social skills in children; “it’s a skill that will help them through life, in making friends and keeping strong ties with family, in networking and creating professional ties. Knowing people and creating fruitful networks can help us immensely, whether it is in our personal or professional lives.” This is an important focus at North Star Academy, where students will learn social skills through practical experiences with classmates and teachers. “The aim is to combines playful learning and learning-ful play” summarises Alka. Alka’s team at NSA comprises of talented, experienced teachers who make their students an absolute priority. “We love teaching, and we love children, so our commitment to our students is 100%” .
In its founding year, North Star academy promises to grow into an institution with a strong vision focused on holistic life-long learning, within and outside the classroom.

Started her carrier in teaching form DPS Noida .After Moving to Nasik she taught at Fravshi Academy and was a popular and much loved teacher there remembered even today .
After specializing in counseling psychology from IBM , Alka set up her Company – Catalyst Training and Transformation ,and moved on to conduct behavioural programs for business houses .To name a few – Deliotte , HPCL , Mahindra n Mahindra , .....
Yet her first love and most cherished dream has been setting up a school where young minds are nourished and nurtured to develop individual interests and abilities.
Another strong pillar at North Star Academy is their Principal Mrs Sushila Chandershekar. “Most Dedicated Teacher” as termed by one of her students is also very intense and passionate about imparting knowledge . Her students are in awe of her and never miss study time with her . Sushila did her PG in Microbiology and worked at Tata cancer Institute in Mumbai. Being a natural Teacher ,she started her center for special coaching in Nasik and has been guiding students for the past 16 years .
