The head and spine trauma incidence is continuously rising due to high speed vehicle. Few years back, these patients were considered hopeless. But due to availability of good transport network, these patients can reach the major city rapidly. Now if neurosurgery is available, many of these patients can be saved.
Another worth mentioning point is high cost of neurosurgical treatment due to lack of government neurosurgical hospital. Many patients die or become disabled due to lack of money. Most private hospitals are not well equipped with treatment modalities for brain tumor, vascular and congenital disease.
It is a regular norm for suffering patients to go major metro cities like Delhi, to get treatment. This is causing congestion of patients there and delay in care.
