Neonatal survival is a focus area not only for health care providers but also for the country. The out come of pregnancy is affected not only by neonatal care but also by natal, antenatal and prenatal obstetric as well as general medical care. Neonatal deaths are the highest contributor to infant and under five mortality rate. It adversely affects the overall health care indices of the State.

Even more important is the quality of life of the surviving neonate. All doctors are concerned about providing best possible initial care to mitigate the suffering of the neonate and to make sure that quality of life of the NICU graduates is as normal as possible.
