Dr. Thangavelu V is a distinguished Ophthalmologist based in Tamil Nadu, with three decades of rich experience behind him. He specialises in cataract and glaucoma surgery and is available for consultations at the MV Eye Care Centre, which has branches in Coimbatore and Tirupur.

Dr. Thangavelu began practising privately in Chennai in 1984, and in 1985 set up his private practice in Tirupur. Later on, in 1994, he had his private ophthalmology practice in Coimbatore. In January 1997, Dr. Thangavelu started the MV Eye Care Centre, and has been associated with it since then as Medical Director. Besides, he has served as a Medical Officer at various health centres during the course of his career. He has also been involved in the area of training, as a Tutor in Ophthalmology at the Coimbatore Medical College, and as Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research and the Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research. Other assignments taken up by Dr. Thangavelu include serving as Honorary Consultant at Sankara Eye Care Centre, Coimbatore, and performing free eye camps, cataract surgeries and school screening programmes under the National Programme for Control of Blindness, since 1992.

Dr. Thangavelu's MV Eye Care Centre aims to provide cost-effective, affordable and personalised eye care. It offers comprehensive eye care services, cataract and refractive services, besides having clinics for glaucoma, retina and contact lenses. The diagnostic facilities available include ultrasound (A Scan), corneal topography, pachymetry, retinal imaging and angiography, and field analysis. The centre has a pharmacy and an opticals unit as well. There are provisions for medical insurance, covering cashless and reimbursement facilities. MV Eye Care Centre is a recognised base eye hospital for Sight First cataract surgeries by Lions Club International Foundation.
