Museums Association of India

Museums Association of India (MAI) is a registered Society having the country’s well known museologists, historians, archaeologists, conservators, anthropologists, retired/and working curators, research scholars and persons of different fields but interested to be associated with it. The MAI has played tremendous role in igniting various museographic endeavors since its inception in 1944.

Every year, Three-Day All India Museums Conference is conducted by the MAI in collaboration with a museum, educational institution, university, art & cultural hub or museum professional body at different parts of the country. Each conference is conducted with a theme of deliberations during the conference and accordingly papers are submitted by the participants which are published in the next MAI Journal. The objective of the MAI is to create a platform where experts, retired/working persons, research scholars, etc. can assemble and discuss about the museum activities. MAI is the only organization that has done stupendous efforts for the growth of museum profession and has remarkably influenced the entire arena of Indian museums. MAI has also started conducting 1-2 days workshop on different subjects at different regions of the country in collaboration with the local museums.
