Mother Teresa's Church - Dum Dum, Kolkata

In 1991 a piece of land (about 13 katas) was bought at Laxmi Narayan Road in order to build a church to cater to the 600-700 families around Laxmi Narayan Road, Matkal, Kabi Mukunda Das Road and Durganagar areas. The foundation stone of the church building was blessed on 20th December 2006 and the church was dedicated to Blessed Teresa of Kolkata, with the completion of the ground floor, regular masses are held in the newly built church since Christmas 2010. Priests used to come for masses from St. Patrick church till 2012. Fr. Tapan Stephen Khan was appointed as the first priest-in-charge in 2013 and on 2nd February 2014, Mother Teresa’s Church was raised to a new Parish and Fr. Tapan Stephen Khan was officially appointed as the first Parish Priest by Rt. Rev, Thomas D’Souza.
