MORJIM BEACH

Morjim is a village situated in north Goa district on the bank of the Chapora River estuary. Surrounded by Arabian Sea and lush green hills. It is home to a variety of birds and to the Olive ridley sea turtle. Blessed with splendid scenic beauty, silver sand beach, beautiful Chapora river and fields surrounded by coconut trees and rich heritage is undoubtedly a "Tourist's Paradise".
Morjim Beach also known as Turtle Beach because the Olive Ridley turtles come here every October to lay eggs comprises a picturesque portion of Goa's 3kms- long shoreline in the North. A place where the sounds of waves is heard. Where the sand emits a youthful fragrance and the melodious rhapsody of birds fills the morning sky. A perfect holiday destination for a nature lover. Morjim is different from the crowded beaches of Goa. Place to relax your mind and soul. You can spot a variety of birds here like the Sand Plover, Bay-backed Shrike, Quill, Turnstones, Cuckoo, Kingfisher, Sandpipers, Gulls, Brown-headed, Black-headed and Slender-billed Gulls along with Crested Terns, Sea Eagle, Osprey and many more. One can also go for Dolphin sighting with local fishermen.
The village of Morjim lies before the beach with a not much population. It consist of a collection of few houses with roof tiles. Landscape consists of coconut palms, cashew plantation, fields and colourful houses. Vithaldas vaddo, Temb vaddo, Vhoilo vaddo, Modhlo vaddo and Gavdey vaddo are few main areas. Agriculture and fishing was the main occupation of Morjim but with time tourism is blooming.
During the season time from September to end of March the beach is full with Beach shacks and parties all over. Among the tourist most of them are Russians followed by English, German, Kazakhstani, French and rest of the world.
