Garfa Mitrayan :: Mitrayan Institute of Dance & Research has been toiling very hard for last 30 years to uplift Bengal’s very own cultural tradition in relation to classical and folk dance forms of Bengal. Under the valuable guidance and direction of Guru Smt. Banani Chakraborty and the tireless endeavor of the members of Garfa Mitrayan, the organization has presented the productions like:- Tagore’s works- Chandalika (The Untouchable), Tasher Desh ( Land of Cards), Chitrangada (The Princess); Dance Ballets- Sakal Raser Dharay ( The Flow of all Emotions), Chena Achenay Nazrul ( the lesser known colours of Nazrul Islam), Rakhal Chhele ( The Shepherd Boy) and many more. The uniqueness of these productions lies in the fact that they are a blend of almost extinct folk dance forms and classical dance of Bengal- Gaudiya Nritya. By inculcating these dance forms and in the process initiating research work on them, Garfa Mitrayan :: Mitrayan Institute of Dance & Research continues to play its role in the upliftment and popularization of these dance forms of Bengal.

Garfa Mitrayan :: Mitrayan Institute of Dance & Research can boast of a group of students who have received junior and senior scholarships from Govt. of India, Dept. of Culture, CCRT, State Music Academy etc. A major section of these students belong to the underprivileged section of our society. Garfa Mitrayan :: Mitrayan Institute of Dance & Research gives them free training in dance and provides them financial support for their educational development. From time to time Garfa Mitrayan :: Mitrayan Institute of Dance & Research has been organizing several workshops on folk dances of Bengal conducted by authentic gurus of those particular dances, from villages to acquaint its students with the original cultural of rural Bengal.

Garfa Mitrayan :: Mitrayan Institute of Dance & Research has given group and individual performances all over the country, almost in all prestigious stages and dance festivals, as well as abroad. Therefore Garfa Mitrayan :: Mitrayan Institute of Dance & Research is in urgent need of financial support from Govt. of India in the form of salary grant, in order to continue with its work and develop the rich dance tradition of Bengal and add to the state’s glory.
