More about Mishmi Hill Camp

Mishmi Hill camp provides an idyllic tribal-styled homestay for anyone seeking to escape the humdrum of the urban life, for artists seeking a quite space to let the creative juices flow, for nature lovers to explore what some would call the present day Garden of Eden.

Here in the Mishmi Hill Camp, you fall asleep to the tune of Deopani river and rhythmically orchestrated sounds of insects. You wake up to the sound of birds and hoolock gibbons calling from the mountains.

A small trail leads you to the Deopani river if you wish to take a bath its crystal clear waters. It’s an ideal place to relax, maybe catch up on the books you have been putting aside for months. Or immerse yourself in nature – go on hikes into the mountains, explore the fruit orchards of the nearby villages and watch the vivid colors of the sun as it sets behind the Brahmaputra plains. If cultural experience is what you seek, you can learn traditional weaving from local women, hear stories of how Idu shamans negotiate with the powerful spirits treat people and discover the many unique and beautiful aspects of the Idu culture.

In the evenings, we sit around the fire hearth for some hearty conversations, sample locally brewed rice liquor (if you wish) and try your hand at roasting locally available meats and vegetables.

Accommodation

There are three cottages that stand on the ridge of Deopani river and in the background are the mountains of the Mishmi Hills and the majestic view of Mayudia peaks.
The cottages are traditional Mishmi houses that stand on stilts and, are made of wood, bamboo and thatch. The rooms are clean, comfortable and furnished with handmade bamboo mats. The rooms have attached western-styled toilets.

The dining area is large and has a fire place at the centre. It has large outdoor porch with majestic views of the Deopani river valley and the mountains the stand in the back.
In addition, we have two tents that stand on still platforms made of bamboo and wood under a thatched roof. The construction and architecture are all in ethnic Idu style, materials are eco-friendly - a lesser carbon footprint in practice and approach.

The property has a large grassy lawn studded with flowers and local trees. We also have sturdy 2 and 4 people tents that can be pitched in the lawn for the more adventurous guests.
