Melkote or Melukote is also known as THIRUNARAYANA PURAM, YADUGIRI, YATIGIRI, VEDADRI.It is a tourism place which is located in mandya dist,Karnataka which is a best tourism place and also a shooting spot .CHELUVA NARAYANA is the main Deity.The idol of CHELUVA NARAYANA is worshipped by Lord BRAMHA in SATYALOKA and brought it to melukote by his son SANAT KUMARA in the first KRITHA ERA,Then it is worshipped by SRI RAMA,LAKSHMANA,SEETHA during their TRAVERSES IN FOREST(Vanavasa),During the DWAPARA YUGA, KRISHNA AND BALARAMA were worshipped.During KALIYUGA SRI RAMANUJACHARYA visited here and stayed here for 12years and constructed the temple with the assistance of HOYSALAS King VISHNUVARDHANA.The UTSAVAMURTHY (HRIDAYODHBHAVA) was worshipped by BRAMHA and handed over to SRI RAMA hence it is called as RAMAPRIYA Later this murthy(idol) reached YADUKULA as Dowry and was worshipped by KRISHNA later it was stolen away and placed in DELHI. RAMANUJACHARYA brought here to melukote. Lord YOGANARASIMHA,BANDE GANAPATI,VARAHA SWAMI,HAYAGRIVA,HANUMANTA also famous temples situated here.
