Mehrabpur

Mehrabpur,, is a city in the Naushahro Firoz District in Sindh province of Pakistan. The city is administratively subdivided into 8 Union Council.It has a busy railway station on the main railway line between Karachi and Lahore. It is a junction station with a disused branch line to Naushahro Feroze. City is also connected through many link roads at Just 6 km from N-5HistoryMir Mehrab Khan Talpur came here from Khairpur and made his residence with his family after that mostly villager came here and made their residency and name the village as Mehrabpur. Mehrabpur was also in the way of Indus River in previous history. Mehrabpur station was inaugurated in 1914. It has an attractive market that covers most of the surrounding areas. Mehrabpur, few years back was a beautiful city till there was no active politics on the street level. But now the picture has completely changed. There is no attention being given to the basic facilities like health, education and communication infrastructure. Sewerage system of the city is totally flopped. Development funds released are being used by the few political notables of the city. Mehrabpur lacks leadership. Those few who claim to be the leaders are just misguiding the innocent and simple citizens of Mehrabpur.Train crashOn 19 December 2007, at 2:30 am an overcrowded 15 up karachi express train traveling from Karachi to Lahore derailed 2km south of Mehrabpur killing over 49 people and injuring two hundreds more. The derailment seems to have been caused by defective rails.
