Meenadam, sometimes spelled Meenadom is a village in Kottayam, Kerala, India.DemographicsIndia census, Meenadam had a population of 13065 with 6473 males and 6592 females. It is surrounded by the Puthupally and Pampady panchayats. The village is rich in tapioca and rubber cultivation. It is about 13 kilometers from Kottayam. Many excavations were conducted in Meenadam during the British occupancy to unearth iron deposits from the arannil kunnu. The pits from those excavations remain today, as well as some deep wells. These pits might have been dug out with machinery, or perhaps a meteorite might have fallen there.EtymologyIt is said that the name "Meenadom" derives from "veenadom" as the meteorite fell down here.
