Maria Niketan School

' Maria Niketan ' is a religious minority educational institution which is one of the several schools run by the Archdiocesan Board of Education , whose president is the Archbishop of Bangalore, the Most Rev.Dr.Bernard Moras.

MARIA NIKETAN a “Home of Children”, which is existing for nearly five decades in its present place, had its humble begininng over a hundred years ago in Mariapura, a village about 28 Kms away from Banaglore, on Kanakapura Road. Initially started to rehabilitate some three hundred children orphaned by a great bubonic plague, this Home which continued to prepetuate acts of mercy was shifted to St.Mary's Church, Shivajinagar and then Ulsoor, Bangalore.

To educate the children and help them to help themselves and the modus operandi of Maria Niketan. And so the emergence of the Kannada Primary School in 1962, the High School in 1972 , the English Primary School in 1976 and the Pre-University college in 2008, were small but welcome steps in the right direction.

In fact, Maria Niketan today looks after the education of not only the children of the Home but also thousands of Tomorrow's citizens in Bangalore. Our High School arrived at a great milestone in the year 1996-97 ,25 years of progress a jubilee year. Showers of blessings came down in the form of an achievement on the part of the students and the teachers. We secured 99.25% in the S.S.LC. Examination.
