Maiyas was founded by Yajnanarayana Maiya who initially started Mavalli Tiffin Room (MTR)
with his brothers in 1924. However, the difference in their opinions led them to go their own
separate ways and thus Maiyas was born under the wise leadership of Yajnanarayana Maiya.
At the time of World War II, the shortage of rice supply made it difficult to produce idlis.
This led Yajnanarayana Maiya to experiment with semolina, the key ingredient behind their
signature breakfast item, Rava Idli. Apart from the Rava Idli, Maiyas serves a variety of
traditional South Indian recipes that are not very easy to cook at home.
He fabricated the theme of his restaurant after the cafes in Europe and maintaining high
standards of hygiene. Today, Maiyas has emerged as not only one of the greatest fast food
restaurant chain but also as one of the best culinary brands of India. They have diversified
their product range to cover everything from beverages, ready to eat food, frozen food as
well as sweets and savories. Maiyas is a reflection of values and traditions inculcated by the
founder and serves good food at reasonable rates.
